Masuku Baskets

Angeline Masuku

Like many other women living in rural South Africa, Angeline Masuku began weaving as a way to alleviate poverty. As the third of ten siblings, she learned how to form palm leaves into baskets at the early age of eight. Angeline’s product line includes woven baskets, placemats, wall hangings, and jewelry, all featuring artistic craftsmanship reflective of her Zulu roots. Her designs celebrate the many contributions that this unique culture has made to modern art.
