Vuyisa Potina

Vuyisa discovered his love for ceramics as a small boy, fashioning small models of oxen from hand-dug clay as he tended cattle in rural South Africa. He later received a scholarship to Boland College to earn a degree in ceramics. His roots go back to the Eastern Cape, where Potina says “to work with our hands is part of our culture.” His signature style marries traditional smoke-firing techniques with modern aesthetics for a combination that is award winning and sought after in galleries and homes throughout South Africa, Europe, and the USA.
